A Christian Reflection on the Coronavirus and Its Aftermath
N. T. Wright
Genre: Christianity
Price: $5.99
Publish Date: June 02, 2020
Publisher: Zondervan
Seller: Harper Collins Canada Limited

Discover a different way of seeing and responding to the Coronavirus pandemic, an approach drawing on Scripture, Christian history, and the way of living, thinking, and praying revealed to us by Jesus. What are we supposed to think about the Coronavirus crisis? Some people think they know: "This is a sign of the End," they say. "It's all predicted in the book of Revelation." Others disagree but are equally clear: "This is a call to repent. God is judging the world and through this disease he's telling us to change." Some join in the chorus of blame and condemnation: "It's the fault of the Chinese, the government, the World Health Organization…" N. T. Wright examines these reactions to the virus and finds them wanting. Instead, he shows that a careful reading of the Bible and Christian history offers simple though profound answers to our many questions, including: What should be the Christian response? How should we think about God?How do we live in the present? Why should we lament? What should we learn about ourselves? How do we recover? Written by one of the world's foremost New Testament scholars, God and the Pandemic will serve as your guide to read the events of today through the light of Jesus' death and resurrection.

Julian of Norwich - Revelations of Divine Love artwork Revelations of Divine Love

Genre: Christianity
Price: $0.99
Publish Date: September 09, 2018
Publisher: Wyatt North Publishing, LLC
Seller: Wyatt North Publishing, LLC

** A Christian Classic ** This book comes complete with a Touch-or-Click Table of Contents, divided by each section. The Revelations of Divine Love (which also bears the title A Revelation of Love — in Sixteen Shewings above the first chapter) is a book of Christian mystical devotions written by Julian of Norwich. It is believed to be the first published book in the English language to be written by a woman.  At the age of thirty, May 13, 1373, Julian was struck with a serious illness. As she prayed and prepared for death, she received a series of sixteen visions on the Passion of Christ and the Virgin Mary. Saved from the brink of death, Julian of Norwich dedicated her life to solitary prayer and the contemplation of the visions she had received. She wrote a short account of her visions probably soon after the event.  About twenty or thirty years after her illness, near the end of the fourteenth century, she wrote down her visions and her understanding of them. Whereas Latin was the language of religion in her day, Julian of Norwich wrote in a straightforward Middle English, perhaps because she had no other medium in which to express herself (she describes herself as a simple creature unlettered, Rev. chap. 2). You can buy other wonderful religious books from Wyatt North Publishing!  Enjoy.

Carl Snyder - Confused Men, Frustrated Women artwork Confused Men, Frustrated Women
Carl Snyder
Genre: Christianity
Price: $5.99
Publish Date: September 13, 2019
Publisher: WestBow Press
Seller: AuthorHouse

Before you read this book, you should know who Dr. Snyder is, and how he approaches his faith in Christ. Dr. Snyder is a lifelong student of the Bible who always asks, “What does the Bible say about that?” His concern is to understand what the Bible says, to believe what it says, and to obey what it says. It is as simple as that, and at the same time as profound as that. For example, Dr. Snyder has led numerous people to the Lord, yet he does not consider himself to be an evangelist. He simply sees that we are supposed to be about the work of evangelism, and so he obeys. Dr. Snyder is less than enthused about maintaining the “administrivia” of his church, but since the Bible commands us to be good stewards; he maintains the church’s records fastidiously. Dr. Snyder is typically the smartest person in the room, and yet if you stand in that room you would never know it. It is not that he hides it behind false humility as so many intellectually gifted people do; it is just that he simply does not care that he is the smartest person in the room. This is what biblical humility looks like when it saturates the very core of a man’s heart. In short, Dr. Snyder is focused on believing in Jesus with all his heart and obeying Him in every aspect of life. He comfortably inhabits the place between understanding what the Bible says and wisely implementing it in our lives, and that is the place from which he preaches and teaches. And that is also the place from which this book was written. In reading this, you will quickly see what I already know about Dr. Snyder: he is balanced, thoroughly biblical, and communicates with large doses of grace. He is not given to extremes and doesn’t have “hobby horses” that he focuses on to the exclusion of more important matters. He stays focused on the Bible and what it means to live it out. Anthony Papadakis, ThM.

Lucy Peppiatt
Genre: Bible Studies

Publish Date: January 30, 2018

Seller: Ingram DV LLC

Whether people realize it or not, the ideas in 1 Corinthians 11:2-16 have had a huge impact on the role of Christian women in the church through the centuries. These fifteen verses have shaped worship practices, church structures, church leadership, marriages, and even relationships between men and women in general. They have contributed to practices that have consistently placed women in a subordinate role to men, and have been used to justify the idea that a woman should not occupy a leadership or teaching position without being under the authority or "covering" of a man. It is strange, therefore, that academics and pastors alike continue to note how confusing and difficult it continues to be to make sense of these very verses. In this little book, Lucy Peppiatt not only highlights the problems associated with using this text to justify the subordination of women, but offers a clear and plausible re-reading of the text that paints the apostle Paul as a radical, visionary, church planter who championed women in all forms of leadership.

Somewhere, perhaps in Europe there is a man, brilliant in mind, full of charisma working behind the scenes to gain political position. Someone who will sell his soul to get that position and Satan will be quick to give him the “Kingdoms of this World.” The bible points to this coming dictator as the “antichrist” destined to lead the world into terrible deception; a period called the great tribulation. The lives of everyone will be profoundly affected, even destroyed, culminating in the Battle of Armageddon. Many say that now is the time, it is this generation, our generation, that has been called to live out our destiny during the period that the ancients called the “birth pangs of the Messiah.” With this in mind, I pray you will respond to this Book, “The Temple, Antichrist and The New World Order” not out of fear, but with an eagerness to understand this very important subject.

The title, Rediscovered Joy , derives from Galatians 4:15 (NLT). The Galatians had lost the joy of God's blessing because they had departed from the truths of the gospel. The Reformation - and the book - is an invitation to rediscover the joy of the gospel. Despite the common claim that the Reformation is either out-dated or divisive, its rediscovery of the apostolic message was a rediscovery of joy - a message that is as relevant today as it was 500 years ago and 2,000 years ago. The book will be different to Why the Reformation Still Matters as it will be much lighter with more focus on biblical exposition and pastoral application. Contents 1. How to hear God's voice - Galatians 1 Reformation link: Scripture alone 2. How to win God's approval - Galatians 2 Reformation link: justification by faith alone through Christ alone 3. How to recognise God's people- Galatians 3 & 4:21-31 Reformation link: the marks of a true church 4. How to enjoy God's love - Galatians 4 Reformation link: the work of the Spirit 5. Michael S. Heiser - The Unseen Realm artwork The Unseen Realm

Michael S. Heiser
Genre: Religion & Spirituality
Price: $12.99
Publish Date: September 01, 2015
Publisher: Lexham Press
Seller: Baker & Taylor Publisher Services

In The Unseen Realm, Dr. Michael Heiser examines the ancient context of Scripture, explaining how its supernatural worldview can help us grow in our understanding of God. He illuminates intriguing and amazing passages of the Bible that have been hiding in plain sight. You'll find yourself engaged in an enthusiastic pursuit of the truth, resulting in a new appreciation for God's Word. Why wasn't Eve surprised when the serpent spoke to her? How did descendants of the Nephilim survive the flood? Why did Jacob fuse Yahweh and his Angel together in his prayer? Who are the assembly of divine beings that God presides over? In what way do those beings participate in God's decisions? Why do Peter and Jude promote belief in imprisoned spirits? Why does Paul describe evil spirits in terms of geographical rulership? Who are the “glorious ones” that even angels dare not rebuke? After reading this book, you may never read your Bible the same way again. “There is a world referred to in the Scripture that is quite unseen, but also quite present and active. Michael Heiser's The Unseen Realm seeks to unmask this world. Heiser shows how important it is to understand this world and appreciate how its contribution helps to make sense of Scripture. The book is clear and well done, treating many ideas and themes that often go unseen themselves. With this book, such themes will no longer be neglected, so read it and discover a new realm for reflection about what Scripture teaches.” —Darrell L. Bock, Executive Director for Cultural Engagement, Senior Research Professor of New Testament Studies, Howard G. Hendricks Center for Christian Leadership and Cultural Engagement “‘How was it possible that I had never seen that before?' Dr. Heiser's survey of the complex reality of the supernatural world as the Scriptures portray it covers a subject that is strangely sidestepped. No one is going to agree with everything in his book, but the subject deserves careful study, and so does this book.” —John Goldingay, David Allan Hubbard Professor of Old Testament, School of Theology, Fuller Theological Seminary
