The Handbook on the Pentateuch is part of the eight-volume Apostolic Handbook Series. In this volume, Chris Paris surveys the Pentateuch from both literary and theological viewpoints, and introduces us to literary techniques such as type scenes, recurring motifs, and irony. Becoming aware of these techniques produces a reading of the text that deepens our appreciation for the God behind the text. In addition, beyond a perfunctory or ceremonial approach to books such as Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy, the author helps us to see how ethical principles in these writings apply to our lives today. |

Durante un viaje en tren desde Chicago a Texas a fines de la década de 1940, A.W. Tozer empezó a escribir La Búsqueda De Dios . ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tozer's bestseller, this book has been called "one of the all-time most inspirational books" by a panel of Christian magazine writers . Sometimes the voices that speak most clearly in the present are those that echo from the past. So it is in this Christian classic by the late pastor and evangelist A. W. Tozer. Tozer brings the mystics to bear on modern spirituality, grieving the hustle and bustle and calling for a slow, steady gaze upon God. With prophetic vigor and flowing prose, he urges us to replace low thoughts of God with lofty ones, to quiet our lives so we can know God’s presence. He reminds us that life apart from God is really no life at all. Tozer writes from his knees, a posture fit for presenting the character of God in all its demanding grandeur. "Arise, O sleeper!" is his word to us, and yet if we heed the call, we will see that to arise is not to stand, but to kneel before the God of heaven in humble contemplation. To pursue God is to know Him, and in our knowing be drawn in. |

Ken Shigematsu shows that spiritual formation is more than just solitude and contemplative reflections. Spiritual formation happens in the everyday, in each and every moment of life.  For those caught up in the busyness of work, family, and church, it often feels like time with God is just another thing on a crowded “to-do’ list. Ken explains how the time-tested spiritual practice of the “rule of life” can help bring busy people into a closer relationship with God. He shows how a personal rule of life can fit almost any vocation or life situation. In God in My Everything, you will discover how to create and practice a life-giving, sustainable rhythm in the midst of your demanding life. If you long for a deeper spirituality but often feel that the busyness of life makes a close relationship with God challenging—and, at times, seemingly impossible—this book is for you. |

2014 “Christian Retailing’s Best” award finalist! What did Jesus really mean when he said, “Follow Me”? In this new book, David Platt, author of the New York Times bestselling book, Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream , contends that multitudes of people around the world culturally think they are Christians yet biblically are not followers of Christ. Scores of men, women, and children have been told that becoming a follower of Jesus simply involves believing certain truths or saying certain words. As a result, churches today are filled with people who believe they are Christians . . . but aren’t. We want to be disciples as long as doing so does not intrude on our lifestyles, our preferences, our comforts, and even our religion. Revealing a biblical picture of what it means to truly be a Christian, Follow Me explores the gravity of what we must forsake in this world, as well as the indescribable joy and deep satisfaction to be found when we live for Christ. The call to follow Jesus is not simply an invitation to pray a prayer; it’s a summons to lose your life—and to find new life in him. This book will show you what such life actually looks like. |

Why do some people pray in agreement with God's will, heart and timing, yet the desired answers do not come? Why would God not respond when we pray from the earnestness of our hearts? What is the problem, or better yet, what is the solution? Robert Henderson believes the answer is found in where your prayer actually takes place. We must direct our prayer towards the Courts of Heaven and not only the battlefield. Robert shows that it is in the courtrooms of Heaven where our breakthroughs can be found. When you learn to operate there you will see your answers unlocked and released. This book will teach you the legal processes of Heaven and how to operate in its courts. When you get off the battlefield and into the courtroom you can grant God the legal clearance to fulfill His passion and answer your prayers. |

In troubled times, there is an urgency to understand ourselves and our world. We have so many questions, and they tug at us night and day, consciously and unconsciously. In this important volume Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh——one of the most revered spiritual leaders in the world today——reveals an art of living in mindfulness that helps us answer life’s deepest questions and experience the happiness and freedom we desire.  Thich Nhat Hanh presents, for the first time, seven transformative meditations that open up new perspectives on our lives, our relationships and our interconnectedness with the world around us. Based on the last full talks before his sudden hospitalization, and drawing on intimate examples from his own life, Thich Nhat Hanh shows us how these seven meditations can free us to live a happy, peaceful and active life, and face ageing and dying with curiosity and joy and without fear. Containing the essence of the Buddha’s teachings and Thich Nhat Hanh’s poignant, timeless, and clarifying prose, The Art of Living provides a spiritual dimension to our lives. This is not an effort to escape life or to dwell in a place of bliss outside of this world. Instead, this path will allow us to discover where we come from and where we are going. And most of all, it will generate happiness, understanding, and love, so we can live deeply in each moment of our life, right where we are. |

Discover how the barrier built by porn addiction can become a bridge to abundant life. What if lust for porn is really a search for true passion?  In a world where there are 68 million searches for pornography every day and where over 70 percent of Christian men report viewing porn in the last year, it's no surprise  that more and more men struggle with an addiction to this false fantasy. Common wisdom says if they just had more willpower or more faith, their fight would be over. Is the answer really that simple? According to the counselor and ministry leader Michael John Cusick, the answer is no—but the big truth may be much more freeing.Backed by scripture, Cusick uses examples from his own life and from his twenty years of counseling experience to show us how the pursuit of empty pleasure is really a search for our heart's deepest desire—and the real key to to resistance is discovering and embracing the joy we truly want. Cusick's insights help readers understand How porn struggles beginWhat to do to prevent those strugglesHow to overcome the compulsion once it begins “Every man who knocks on the door of a brothel is knocking for God.” – G. K. Chesterton |

The Rolling Stone reporter’s “fascinating . . . globe-trotting, first-person spiritual odyssey” into the Catholic Church’s investigations of reported miracles ( Seattle Post-Intelligencer ).   In a tiny, dilapidated trailer in northeastern Oregon, a young woman saw a vision of the Virgin Mary in an ordinary landscape painting hanging on her bedroom wall. After some skepticism from the local parish, the matter was placed “under investigation” by the Catholic diocese. Investigative journalist and Rolling Stone contributor Randall Sullivan wanted to know how, exactly, one might conduct an official inquiry into such an incident. So began his eight year immersion into the world of “Miracle Detectives.”   Sullivan set off to interview theologians, historians, and postulators from the Sacred Congregation of the Causes for Saints, men charged by the Vatican with testing the miraculous and judging the holy. Sullivan traveled from the Vatican to the village of Medjugorje, in Bosnia-Herzegovina, where six visionaries had seen apparitions of the Virgin Mary. Then, on a more personal turn, he traveled to Scottsdale, Arizona, to visit the site of America’s most controversial Virgin Mary sighting.   In prose that “often reads like a spiritual whodunit,” The Miracle Detective takes you along Sullivan’s eight-year investigation into apocalyptic prophesies, claims of revelation, and the search for a genuine, direct encounter between man and god ( Publishers Weekly , starred review). |

John Chrysostom (c. 349–407), Archbishop of Constantinople, was an important Early Church Father. He is known for his eloquence in preaching and public speaking, his denunciation of abuse of authority by both ecclesiastical and political leaders, the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom , and his ascetic sensibilities. After his death (or, according to some sources, during his life) he was given the Greek surname chrysostomos , meaning "golden mouthed", rendered in English as Chrysostom. The Orthodox and Eastern Catholic Churches honor him as a saint and count him among the Three Holy Hierarchs, together with Basil the Great and Gregory Nazianzus. He is recognized by the Catholic Church as a saint and as a Doctor of the Church. Churches of the Western tradition, including the Roman Catholic Church, some Anglican provinces, and parts of the Lutheran Church, commemorate him on September 13. The Divine Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom is the most celebrated Divine Liturgy in the Byzantine Rite. It is named after the anaphora with the same name and reflects the work of the Cappadocian Fathers to both combat heresy and define Trinitarian theology for the Christian Church. The Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom was probably the divine liturgy used originally by the School of Antioch and was, therefore, most likely developed from West Syrian liturgical rites. In Constantinople, it was refined and beautified under John's guidance as Patriarch of Constantinople, (398-404). Having become the liturgical form of the Church of Holy Wisdom, Hagia Sophia, it became over time the normative liturgical form in the churches within the Byzantine Empire. The two liturgical rites of St. John Chrysostom and St. Basil in the Eastern Church became the norm by the end of the reign of Justinian. This edition of the Divine Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom is specially formatted with a Table of Contents and images.  |

‘What are the marks of a supernaturally changed heart?’  This is one of the questions the Apostle Paul addresses as he writes to the church in Corinth. He’s not after some superficial outward tinkering, but instead a deep–rooted, life–altering change that takes place on the inside. In an age where pleasing people, puffing up your ego and building your résumé are seen as the methods to ‘make it’, the Apostle Paul calls us to find true rest in blessed self–forgetfulness.  In this short and punchy book, best–selling author Timothy Keller, shows that gospel–humility means we can stop connecting every experience, every conversation with ourselves and can thus be free from self–condemnation. A truly gospel–humble person is not a self–hating person or a self–loving person, but a self–forgetful person.  This freedom can be yours… |

MERE CHRISTIANITY has sold millions of copies worldwide in over half a century. It is one of the most popular introductions to the Christian faith ever written. This classic brings together C. S. Lewis's legendary broadcast talks from the war years in which he set out to simply "explain and defend the belief that has been common to nearly all Christians at all times." By rejecting the many boundaries that has been dividing Christianity’s many denominations for centuries, Lewis provides an unparalleled opportunity for both believers and unbelievers alike to hear a powerful, rational case for the Christian faith. This book is a collection of sparkling brilliance that is strikingly fresh for the modern reader and at the same time confirms C. S. Lewis’ reputation as one of the foremost writers and thinkers of all time. “If wit and wisdom, style and scholarship are requisites to passage through the pearly gates, Mr. Lewis will be among the angels.” - THE NEW YORKER “Lewis is the ideal persuader for the half-convinced, for the good man who would like to be a Christian but finds his intellect getting in the way.” - NEW YORK TIMES BOOK REVIEW “It is not surprising that Lewis’s time-proven views are still flourishing while most other mid-20th-century works are nearly neglected.” - WALL STREET JOURNAL “C. S. Lewis understood, like few in the past century, just how deeply faith is both imaginative and rational.” - CHRISTIANITY TODAY This MERCY HOUSE PUBLISHING ebook edition contains the original text with superior formatting for the most enjoyable reading experience on all iPhones, iPads, and Macs: • Unabridged, revised and expanded • Professional Table of Contents • Professional Footnotes • Professional indentation and spacing of paragraphs • Drop Caps • New original minimalist book cover design • Special low price You deserve to immerse yourself into this timeless classic with the best digitally published version! |

A deeply moving and life-affirming account of wrestling with faith and God and finding miracles in the most unexpected places. In the brief instant Sarah Bessey realized that her minivan was, inevitably, going to hit the car on the highway on the bright, clear day of the crash, she knew intuitively that it would have life-changing consequences. But as she navigated the winding path from her life before the accident—as a popular author, preacher, and loving wife and mother—to her new life after, inhabiting a body that no longer felt like her own, she found that the most unexpected result wasn’t the way this shook her body, but how it shook her deeply rooted faith, upending everything she thought she knew and held so dearly. Weaving together theology and memoir in her trademark narrative style, Sarah tells us the story of the moment that changed her body and how it ultimately changed her life. The road of healing leads to Rome where she met the Pope (it’s complicated) and encountered the Holy Spirit in the last place she expected. She writes about her miraculous healing, learning to live with chronic pain, and the ways God makes us whole in the midst of suffering. She invites us to a path of knowing God that is filled with ordinary miracles, hope in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, and other completely reasonable things. Insightful, profound, and unexpected, Miracles and Other Reasonable Things is a wild, spirit-filled story of what it means to live with both grief and faith, suffering and joy, as we wrestle with God. |
